Born2Bond patented solutions use widely new base molecules Methoxyethyl Cyanoacrylates instead of standard Ethyl base.
The R&D work from Bostik focused on keeping advantages of standard superglues (polyvalence, speed, strength), with the advantages of the new chemical base (health, odor, esthetics).
This allows solutions

- low blooming for better aspect
- impact resistant (less brittle)
Coming down to individual applications and product choice, Born2Bond solutions are available with different curing mechanisms: 1K, 1K UV “Dual Cure”, and 2K.
- 1K (mono-component) are the standard adhesive for many assembly demands. They exist from liquid to gel, depending on surface porosity and shape. Simple and efficient.
- 1K UV “Dual Cure” (monocomponent and/or UV curing) have speed and “on-demand” curing, even without pressure. It can therefore also be used for small encapsulation. Dual cure UV products make clean and transparent bondlines, and solve potential issues in case of excess material.
- 2K (mixing) allow bonding of complex 3D shapes including with gaps. They do not require the substrates to be in direct contact. They also tend to be very strong, with a hard or flexible bonding.
Applications
A lot of possibilities since the products are polyvalent and luxury goods can mean :
- Manual applications such as leather bonding, fixing design elements such as logo or decorative elements, typically on plastic parts
- Automated applications such as makeup, perfume bottles and caps and many more.
